Toll for the Bridge to Ile de Re

All the guidebooks had warned of the expensive toll for the bridge to Ile de Re. We travelled over on 24th September 2008 and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was 9$ (about £7) and ONLY for getting there - there is NO CHARGE on the way back.

However we visited La Rochelle from Ile de Re on the bus for 6$ return each whichw e felt was a good deal as we didn%26#39;t have to worry about parking the car. A charming island enhanced for us by the good weather.

Just to clarify, the off season toll is 9 Euros and the summer toll (about mid June to mid Sep) is 16.50 Euros. But still a bargain!

If you are going to stay on the Island and expect to go back and forth several times buy a 5 trip abonnement at the bureau before the bridge, the price is greatly discounted.

Is there any chance you can remember what you paid for the 5 day pass we%26#39;re staying on ile de re in July and I%26#39;m findging it really difficult to find out what it costs.

Thanks
