Paris Airport to Bayeux for a Normandy battlefield tour

I am hoping to fly from Rome to Paris in early November, take the train to Bayeux, take two battlefield tours over two days, return to Paris and then back to Rome. Could somebody give me some advice as to where and how I can catch a train to Bayeux? And, which Paris airport would be the best to fly into? How far would it be from the Paris airport to a train station headed to Bayeux? Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, you need to go into Paris to get a train to Bayeux. For this reason, lots of people rent a car at CDG and drive to Normandy, then take a train to Paris for the return.

If you rail from the airport into Paris, you will most likely have to change rail stations to continue onto Bayeux. Once you have reached Bayeux, you will need a car to tour. It takes some driving and time, just to visit the 2 beaches and the American Cemetery. I suggest looking at the Rail Europe schedules or French Rail schedules to see how the connections work. You could also look at the Normandy website. That may give you connection and travel information. If all else fails, ask for the help of a travel agent, who can do it all for you.

You could also drive. It is about 4 hours, depending where you start from.
