2008/2009 new years eve in lyon ! any ideas?

Im taking my wife to Lyon for new years eve this year 2009, im 27 shes 25.

were quite outgoing and enjoy a laugh, im not too ken on very tacky venues though, like the idea of open air/courtyards , live bands, fancy dress etc - some type of theme i think rather than club (however any ideas would be good) , i can not find anything going on through internet searches.

Sorry I cannot help you regarding that particular period in Lyon as we always travel abroad for New Year Eve.

I don%26#39;t want to disapoint you, but there is not much going on here. Unlike Italian or Spanish or German who are in the streets to celebrate, people here enjoy parties with their families or friends. So it will not be very exciting for tourists I am afraid.

Why not come to Lyon for the festival of lights instead (December 8th) ? This is definitively the day everybody is out !

thanks for the advice, i have already paid for flights and airport parking, so i will have to take the trip. i was considering booking into the hilton - but was wondering if you might have some good advice on good restaurant i could book - (means not much going on) will the old town be busy? What about the casinos - do they hve much to offer for new years eve?

It is too early to find out what is going on on December 31st. Many restaurants have special dinner menus with entertainment, including Casino Le Lyon Vert (very expensive party!). I don%26#39;t know what is going on at the other casino located at the Cité Internationale (where the Hilton is located). You may google %26quot;le pharaon%26quot; to check what is going on.

The Hilton is nice but you won%26#39;t be in the middle of everything; might be OK though if you like the casino.
