My wife and I are staying just south of the eiffel tower, and besides the louvre and the eiffel tower, we were curious to what other MUST SEES are there we should check out while we are there for 3 days? thanks

It really depends on what interests you and wife. Get some guide books and DVDs from library and pick out what appeals to you . For instance I have no desire to return to Louvre but LOVE several other art museums. Read the numerous trip reports on TA for ideas. It is your trip - make it your choices.
Also you need a good map to group sites together since your time is short.

Hi -
I agree - the place to start is a guide book - you and your wife should read it and make your wish lists as you go through it. Prioritize the list items and collate them. You simply don%26#39;t have time to sift through what our opinions are. You need to take the time right now to identify the places and things that most interest the two of you, so you can have a trip that is tailor made for you all, not for some of us.
I know just how personal these choices are. I%26#39;m an art lover, but I didn%26#39;t get to the Louvre until my 5th trip to Paris. There were too many other sites that interested me more. So, a very old rule applies - a MUST SEE is one only if it is one to you. Make a list of your MUST SEES, and let us help you try to fit them into your time frame. There will be some that simply won%26#39;t fit. They go over to the %26quot;Things to do on the Next Trip%26quot;, because there is always a next trip.
BTW, when are you planning to travel?
Bonne chance et bon voyage.

Definitely get yourself at least one tour guide tout de suite!
For first timers, the Eyewitness %26quot;Top 10 Paris%26quot; is outstanding - a slim volume with photos, maps, and recommendations for seeing/doing, dining, shopping...
If the weather is favorable, highly recommend a two-day ticket for l%26#39;Opentour - the scenery from seats on the open air upper deck is magnificent!

I don%26#39;t quite see how you can be beside the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, but in any case, you%26#39;ll need a map with the main attractions indicated, to help with the planning. And, as already pointed out, you also need to read a guide book (can get one at the librarie).
My personal must sees include the Louvre, Opéra Garnier, islands Cité and St-Louis (Notre Dame is on Cité), Sacré Coeur, d%26#39;Orsay... and walks in St-Germain, Marais, Luxembourg Garden... that%26#39;s just to name a few.

Thanks. We are actually going in late November of this year. We wanted to stay close to the Eiffel tower and on the water so found a great hotel that fit that for us. I think the Louvre will be the only museum we plan on going to there, and we%26#39;ve read about some river cruises at night, do you have any particular tour on the river you recommend?
thanks

You can look into one or more of these Paris Walks...
http://www.paris-walks.com/
They do two different walks / day, are in English, last approx. two hours and cost 10€00 pp, and are a good way to get aquainted with an area - the Marais, Notre Dame and the Ile de la Cite, for example. An interesting one is called Hemingway%26#39;s Paris and focuses on the rue Moufftard and the Place Contrascarpe.
And even after 7 trips to Paris we still go up to Montmartre following a self-guided tour from the L%26#39;Abysse metro stop to the top. We have dinner there and then walk to the overlook to see a lighted Paris spread out below.

I think the OP said what to see besides the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, not that he or she would be beside both at the same time.
In any event, here is a site I think is good to come up with a must-see list. www.paris-france.org/en/Visiting/default.asp
