teen males -- what to wear?

I%26#39;m going next week with two 18-year old boys who like looking fashionable. I know that shorts are a no-no in Paris, and although jeans are a pain to travel with, they will probably bring them. What other kind of pants, and shirts? Thanks for helping.

I had also read a few posts saying that shorts are a no-no. I%26#39;m just back and saw loads of calf length shorts on the French boys and young men. They really don%26#39;t dress a great deal differently from teenagers anywhere else!

We saw more fitted t shirts being worn there,, not the %26quot;gansta%26quot; baggy stuff they often wear here. Longer walking shorts are fine,, if your kids like them,, I just did not see the long silky basket ball type shorts.. although I am sure a tourist somewhere did in fact wear them.. lol

Comfy footwear.;

I dont think jeans are a pain to travel with... If you were going to SE Asia, maybe (hot and take too long to dry) but for Paris, I would basically only bring jeans and black jeans.

When I visit my childhood au pair in Paris, her sons (18-22) are always in jeans, tshirts and sneakers....smoking away!

Shorts are not a no-no

Hi,

My 16-year-old nephew is starting to favor Armani casual clothes (his poor mother -- hehehe)

BUT..... I found a GREAT store on the Champs Elysees called %26quot;Celio%26quot; with men%26#39;s clothing --- the prices were very, very reasonable, and he liked the stuff I brought back for him from Paris ----

Give it a try, and have a great trip!!

From my observatins the last week or so, the teens seem to get away with most everything here because they are teens. I%26#39;ve seen shorts, capris, jeans, slacks, etc. I would say the best combo is jeans or comfortable fitting pants, sneakers/converse, and a t-shirt/button shirt. This seems to be the norm and they won%26#39;t stick out at all.

and men do wear capri pants in France! when I see the red ones here, I know they%26#39;re usually German or Italian, but I have actually seen a French man in skin tight white capris with a long denim shirt. He looked ridiculous!

I dont know if a fashion oriented French teenager would be caught dead in them however.

I%26#39;m just impressed with anyone who can get an 18 year old to wear anything suggested to them by their parents.

Hi -

My suggestion would be to wear light weight wash pants, in black or navy (they won%26#39;t look grubby the first time they sit somewhere outdoors) with polo shirts for the daytime hours and button down the front shirts for evening. Tell them to apply basic American country club dress code rules, and they%26#39;ll be prepared to go anywhere an opportunity presents itself and feel comfortable while doing it.

I agree that jeans are a pain for travelling. They%26#39;re just too heavy in the suitcase, let alone take too long to dry.

Really dark blue light weight denim jeans, square toed slip on shoes and fitted shirts which are layerd. (long sleeved or polos, but definitely form fitting)......and of course the scarf! - this is according to my style conscious 17 year old who is still mad at me because I refused to open up my purse at Hugo Boss or Louis Vuitton .

Also, he was stopped more than once by French teens and asked where he got the long plaid shorts.
