We%26#39;re planning to spend a week in Beaune and a week in Bordeaux, and driving between the two. We%26#39;ll have 2 kids with us - aged 8 %26amp; 10. Is it best to try and drive through in one day, or is it worth taking it slower and sightseeing along the way, and staying overnight somewhere? And if so, where?! Any suggestions appreciated!

Beaune to Bordeaux is over 600 km, and it would take at least 7 hours driving on the fastest available roads. Allowing for stops for food, rest breaks, etc., it%26#39;s not really practical in one day.
A pleasant place for an overnight stop, about half way, would be Le Mont Dore, an old spa town just south of Clermont-Ferrand.

If you have trouble finding accommodation in Le Mont Dore, try La Bourboule, another beautiful spa town abot 5km away.
