Where to stay?

Hello!

My husband and I are going to be in Paris in mid-October and need help finding a place to stay. We will be there for 7 nights, but only need to find a hotel to stay at for the first two. (My husband has a conference at the Marriott Rive Gauche and we will be staying there for that part of the trip.)

We are looking to find a place near some of the more touristy areas, because my husband has never been. (I have only been once before and it was back in 2000.) When I went, I stayed in the St. Germain area and would love to stay there again, but I find hotels to be rather pricey.

Can anyone please recommend some good 3 star hotels in some good areas? Ideally we would like to be near some good (not SUPER pricey) restaurants/cafes and near some of the more popular landmarks.

Am I crazy to think something like this exists for less than $150 dollars/night?

Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

You probably can find something in that price range. I just got back and did a one-night stay at Hôtel Europe Saint Séverin, which is just of bd St Michel near the St Michel Metro/RER stop. The hotel had A/C, very clean rooms/baths, and doubleglazed windows (so not unbearably noisy, even though we faced the street). It%26#39;s about a block in from Notre Dame, so very centrally located. The price was about 135E/night, so at least close to what you are thinking of spending.

I would suggest trying the hotel search feature on this site, if not already done, and sorting by area and price. Don%26#39;t worry too much about the stars, they don%26#39;t have much to do with what you%26#39;re likely looking for because they don%26#39;t denote %26quot;luxury%26quot; status, as in the US (e.g., stars are regulated by govt agency, and are the number depends on many specific things like on-site restaurant, but you probably would eat out except maybe the breakfast offered by the hotel).

Good luck with your search.
