Paris 5 day itinerary : HELP

Hi All,

I am traveling to Paris for 5 days. First 2 days i will be just sight seeing in Paris. Can you guys please suggest some nice places around Paris. Day trips from Paris. But I am flexible in staying at some other city/motel as well.

I would really love to see the wine making-crushing with feet and would love to do it with my husband. Can you guys suggest some place in France where it can be experienced?

Waiting for ur reply

Thanks a lot

5 days is a minimum time to explore Paris and Versailles, which is about 45 minutes away by RER train. You will have a great time and keep very busy for 5 days.

I would encourage you to stay in the central area of Paris - someplace where the postal code ends in 01 through 08.

What time of year are you going? That would certainly make a difference regarding crushing grapes. I%26#39;m no expert, but I%26#39;m guessing that the food crushing would be mainly during celebrations, not standard practice.

I meant foot crushing, though I guess it is food crushing also.

On the slim chance that your request for foot stomping grapes was real - I decided to google it. I did find crushing championships (not sure if foot stomping or not) in Australia and the US, but not in Europe.

I think the French are much too serious about their wines to play games.

The only suggestion was to stay on a farm and buy a vat of grapes so you could crush them!

I was born and raised in France, in the Bordeaux region and, at the time--for about 25 years- knew quite a few people that owned vineyards. I have never ever seen grapes crushed by feet. This might be done, as a poster said, for some special festival but is extremely rare.

By the way the grape harvest in the Bordeaux region usually take place in September/ October. The actual date changes each year depending on the climate in late August. It could be very early one year, much later the next.

Another thing is that the crushing of grapes is a very very busy time. The busiest of the year by far. Facilities doing the crushing have long lines of trucks coming and going from the vineyards and tourists would definitely be in the way. In my days the vineyards were off limits to anyone--even friends and relatives-- that didn%26#39;t actually work there.

Thanks to IluvOregon n 3CONILS.

I m traveling in mid June. Seems I have to postpone my plans of fruit crushing for now...

I am not too much into seeing cathedrals n monuments so will cover only imp places of Paris in 2 days.

Any suggestions where we can go nearby Paris? Hows Normandy n Bordeaux ? Can we just drive there n stay in any motel? Dont want to get everything booked in prior. Is mid June a very touristy season?

Waiting for the replies..

Thanks again :)

June would be high tourist season .Taking a train somewhere would be preferable to driving. Versaille,Giverny,Reims ,Rouen all possibilities for day trips. In Reims you could visit Champagne houses.

I hope you are talking about June 2010, not a couple of weeks time.

If the latter, you%26#39;ve left it very late to be looking for accommodation.

It seems as though you either don%26#39;t have any idea what Paris is like, or really should be visiting some other place entirely. Not into museums, monuments, so what are you interested in? Maybe you could hit the Riviera. Do you like the beach? Or go straight to Bordeaux to check out the wineries.
