For anyone considering this company for renting an apartment, please look through these old posts before making your decision.

Decide for yourself, but they do not come well recommended!

Was this compilation prompted by something in particular?

Browsing through the Paris posts, I keep seeing questions about Yellowstay coming up over and over again. Often they are buried in other posts that started with general questions about apartment rentals in Paris.

We had a really miserable experience with Yellowstay renting an apartment (electricity turned off for non-payment the second day we were there, no phone or cable or internet due to non-payment of bills, no one showed up to let us in, broken shower, gross stained sheets, kitchen sink falling through the countertop.....I could go on and on) and they refused to answer our calls once we were there. Unfortunately, I have followed posts since then and seen many more people with the exact same complaints we had.

I thought this would make it easier for people with questions about YellowStay to access all the different posts quickly and easily.

Just to add to the Yellowstay Paris comments. We have used them twice - Decmber 2007 (5 nights) and January 2009 (4 nights). On both occasions we were telephoned by Yellowstay less than 24 hours before we were due to arrive and told that our booked appartment was not available - first time because %26#39;the water in the building was being shut off for repairs%26#39;, second time %26#39;the lavatory is not working%26#39;. Both times we were, their quote, %26#39;upgraded%26#39; but to give them their due the replacement appts were very near the original ones. In 2007, the replacement appartment was much larger than the one we had booked but it was very %26#39;tired%26#39; and the bathroom almost unusable because of the sloping ceiling and lack of height - had to crouch in the bath-shower. For January 2009 we booked at euros 85 and were then compulsorily %26#39;upgraded%26#39; (at no extra cost to us) to an appt costing euro 110 (price on their website the day before we we due to arrive). Today, just returned from Paris, our originally booked appt is priced at euro 130! and the one we ended up in is priced at euros 90. Perhaps it is all just coincidence but it is possible that there is something not entirely straightforward going on here. Our chosen appt this year was advertised with a wonderful view; the one we ended up in was slightly larger but had both windows looking onto a very dark internal service well.

However - both appartments were in superb locations and were warm and secure. The standard of accomodation is not unlike university appartment-shares of our youth! - but for (very) central Paris these appartments are cheap. We just wish that we did not have a nagging feeling that we may have been taken for a ride and, if we ever use Yellowstay in Paris again, we would certainly have no confidence that we would be given the appartment we had chosen and paid a deposit for.

Don%26#39;t use Yellowstay!!

I wish I%26#39;d seen all these reviews prior to using Yellowstay. My family and I (s adults 2 teenagers) spent 30 Dec - 4 Jan in the crappiest little apartment ever. The Yellowstay office is never occupied and even when you ring the emergency number no-one answers it. This company has got to be the most dodgy one I%26#39;ve ever dealt with.

Following is a letter I sent three times to the apartment manager (as I was asked to do so by the secretary on the phone). I have yet to see a reply. Never use this company.

Dear manager

Our family is very disappointed with our apartment and believe we have not received value for money. The following issues have been encountered %26amp; I hope you can understand where we are coming from:

1- Electricity - the electricity went off during the night for three nights out of 6; this has resulted in us waking to a cold apartment with no hot water. None of us has had a shower in 3 days! For E185 a night I should be able to come back to the apartment %26amp; have a shower if I want to but the hot water only heats during the day!

2 - the sofa broke when my 12 year old son sat on it. This is supposed to be one of the beds! We tried to fix it but it broke again! So all we can sit on are hard chairs.

3- the apartment was dirty when we arrived. this is not acceptable; there was supposed to be enough bedding for 6, yet there was hardly enough for four and the duvet on the fold out bed provided was filthy.

4 - the tv does not work properly despite following the instructions it does not go beyond the %26quot;freebox%26quot; selection menu.

THAT%26#39;S why I posted this.....after having a stay just like the last post-er%26#39;s stay a few years back, I am shocked every time I see another post from someone that has stayed there and had a bad experience. I can%26#39;t believe they%26#39;re still in business! So by posting under %26quot;Yellowstay Apartment Rental%26quot; I was hoping to give an easy pull for a search that anyone might be doing so they could see problems that other folks have had. Hard to believe they%26#39;re still doing this kind of stuff! Dirty apartments, no heat, no hot water, no t.v. or telephone, broken furniture, filthy beds.....there are so many better options.

Hello DrDebi.

Ref: appartment rental in Paris - what in your view please are %26#39;the better options%26#39;? We%26#39;ve had a lot of problems finding competitively priced short-stay appartments in central Paris. Thanks for any reply.

Try posting another topic (or do a search) for recommended apartment rentals.

We have used www.vacationinparis.com and they were wonderful to work with and had apartments in a wide range of price categories. They are USA based, so it might be a hassle for you in France?

There are LOTS of other options!

I%26#39;ve just booked with Vacation In Paris.com and they seem very reputable but I will post comments when I return - but won%26#39;t be in Paris until end June 09. I live in Scotland, so don%26#39;t think it%26#39;ll be a problem that organisation is based in US. They stated that they have managment/agents to look after customers etc. over in Paris. I nearly booked with Yellow Rental - glad I didn%26#39;t, given the poor reviews on this forum.

Another option is to save yourselves the headache and stay in a hotel.

Anna, for 185 Euro a night there are decent hotels available, even for 4.

RE: Yellowstay Apartments.

My family recently returned from a stay at a Yellowstay Apartment in Paris and were thoroughly disappointed in our experience.

We arrived at the apartment at 65 Rambuteau to find that the apartment was not quite as good as it looked in the pictures on the website; the bathroom was filthy, with mold in the grout; a window didn%26#39;t quite shut; and kitchen chairs were falling apart. To top it all off, there was a musty smell emanating from the apartment. No wonder - the ceiling had been leaking!

Our first night there, the ceiling started leaking again and we had to move furniture around, put pots on the floor, and got little response from Rafi Papazian, the manager. We made several calls to the emergency number and the one time that Rafi picked up, his only response was that he would see if the upstairs apartment would shut their water off! No response to our request for another apartment, no response to our request for a partial refund, and no customer service whatsoever. We later found out that Rafi moved the previous night%26#39;s occupants to another apartment, but he proceeded to rent the apartment to us even though the problem wasn%26#39;t fixed.

Run, don%26#39;t walk, from this company.

-Mark M.
