Bonjour - I%26#39;m traveling to Paris and plan to make a trip to Giverny. I%26#39;ll be in Paris 29 Sep until 6 Oct. Rather than booking with an agency I would like to take the train to Vernon and walk to Giverny (not too far, I understand).
If anyone is planning to be in Paris the first week of October and would like to make this day trip with me, please let me know. I was going to hold off setting the exact date so I could choose a good-weather day.
Also, this is my first time to Giverny. Does the above plan make sense or is there some reason not to do it this way?
I know I can book a bus- or mini-bus tour. The cost is much higher. That doesn%26#39;t bother me but I like the adventure of getting there on my own and, possibly, seeing more of the area.

Sounds like a good plan. It%26#39;s about 2.7 miles from Vernon to Giverny. If it%26#39;s raining, or you get tired, there are buses or taxis.

Have you considering renting a bike? There are 2 coffee shops near the train station that will rent you a bike and point you in the right direction. I did this with my 12 year old and our %26#39;Giverny adventure%26#39; was a highlight of the trip.... oh I want to go back!
