Acceptable clothing for summer

We will be in Paris for 5 days during July. Its my husband, 18 year old son and myself. What kind of clothing would be acceptable to wear. Are shorts acceptable during the day? Is it better to stay away from wearing jeans? Thanks in advance!!!

What time of July are you coming?

Everyone kept telling me shorts, sandles and jeans were looked down upon by Parisians, then I see most paris people wearing them!!

As long as your not wearing anything political or look like your going to the beach for the day im sure whatever you wear will be fine.

If the clothes dont say your American our accent will :P

The look is %26quot;sophisticated big city%26quot; so you will rarely see shorts (although not uncommon in other areas of France). Jeans, on the other hand, are seen everwhere. You will not see bare/skimpy tops in churches (disrespectful). As said, just think %26quot;big city%26quot; and you%26#39;ll feel you fit in. Have fun and don%26#39;t stress about it.

I wore Bermuda shorts today, and was right in step with everyone else. (Disclaimer: I wasn%26#39;t in Paris, but am just outside.) Some wore shorter, some wore longer (knee-length), some ladies wore skirts.

Not too short, and not too sloppy - stay toward the tailored end of the spectrum. Other than that, wear what you are comfortable in.

Microfiber is a fabulous fabric for travel -- it drapes beautifully, doesn%26#39;t wrinkle, always looks presentable, is crazy comfortable, and washes and dries in a flash -- and is very cool when it%26#39;s really hot.

And layer -- a rainy day can feel ridiculously cool.
