Should we stay at Nice or Cannes. I noticed that there was a similar question on the forum, but our trip is in July instead of December...it might make a difference.
We will have a 3 day stop-over at this location.
We want to stay at a nice place where we can walk around and be able to enjoy cafes / restaurants. We will also do a couple of excursions. Probably Monte Carlos and St Tropez.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Both places fit the bill for the cafes and restaurants
For excursions you can go by boat to st tropez from either place - slightly cheaper and shorter boat trip from cannes

Monte carlo/monaco is closer to Nice than cannes -you have the option of bus [one euro single] or train just over 3 euros single /20 minutes
Train for cannes to Monaco is just over an hour and costs 8 euros single normally but you will have the option of saving some money with the carte Isabelle day rover ticket which costs 12 euros for unlimited travel on the local trains for one day

Personally, having visited the area a few times, I%26#39;d prefer to stay in someplace smaller, like Antibes. Antibes has a good variety of inexpensive restaurants and lodgings. The walk down Cap d%26#39;Antibes is interesting and photogenic. You%26#39;ll be close to both Cannes and Nice - and Monte Carlo and St-Tropez, if you have time.
