Looking for private rental this summer for 2 or 3 weeks.

Well we just returned from France and I must say it was truly like stepping into a fairytale. It was our fourth time but this time we did A LOT in a short period, went to Paris, Lyon to see friends, to Avignon and did a mini tour there, then back to the Loire Valley where a friend/business colleague has inherited a fabulou chateau that has just been fully restored....staying there was like going back hundreds of years and was a dream!!

So...we were thinking we might want to look into renting a chateau that is managable for a family of 5, for a few weeks, about 3. What are the rates? We are not looking for something that is super huge, or on major land, nor requires a major staff. What do things like this go for? Anyone know the best source on who to ask or what company to go to?

We want to know if this is even a doable trip....everyones budget is relative of course, but if you have any useful information, please share.

Thanks!

Here are two sources you might check:

http://www.wimco.com/

http://www.au-chateau.com/

These include smaller exclusive hotels:

http://www.relaischateaux.com/

http://www.symbolesdefrance.com/

http://www.chateauxdemeures.fr/

http://www.chateauxhotels.com/

http://www.tablethotels.com/

The real cost of châteaux and properties of which you mention is not necessarily their inherent value (which can be considerable) but rather the cost of taxes, management, upkeep, and general maintenance.

Expect such a visit to be expensive.

look at this one, very peaceful, on the river, daed central for the Loire valley and its own winery.

Try www.holidaylettings.uk.com or ww.frenchconnections.uk.com or

look at Moulin de Malicorne www.loiremoulin.com

Ask for a discounted rate for a 3 week stay at any place that looks interesting to you. We have asked and gotten discounts and not but it never hurts to ask
