Collioure or Vernet-les-bains

We are traveling from Barcelona to Provence in September this year and have three nights in the Languedoc-Roussillon area.

We have decided to spend one night in Carcassonne and one night in Aigues Mortes.

Is it better to spend more time in Collioure after leaving Barcelona(we want to stop at Figueres on the way) or is it better to have a lunch stop in Collioure and then continue into the Pyrenees so that we can spend more time there? Thanks!

Collioure is very pretty and touristy - though it will not be crowded in September - and worth a stop. It all depends on how much time you want to spend in the car and how much time you are planning to stay in Figueres if you want to be in Collioure for lunch

Do you want to take the coast road via Port-Bou, Cerbere and Banyuls? It In this case it is on your way but the drive is long and winding.

Will you be taking the motorway? In this case you%26#39;ll have to backtrack a few miles when you exit the motorway at Le Boulou but the road is excellent.

Driving from Collioure to Vernet-les-Bains will take you a little more than one hour so if you are not in a hurry, by all means stop in Collioure, it would be a pity to miss it.
