Transport to Pont Du Gard from Nimes

We are visiting Nimes in April and would like to have a day trip to Pont Du Guard. Is it possible to do this by public transport or are there organised excursions from Nimes

Nimes, here are the time tables to Pont du Gard for lines 168, 169, and 205

We visited Nimes on 16 and 17 May 2009 and were very keen to visit the Pont du Gard. It was very surprising that practically no information about which bus to take and from where was readily available. It seems that most travellers go there by hiring a car! Our hotel had no information about the bus service and most everyone was clueless.

Here%26#39;s what we discovered. The bus-stop for out of town buses is behind the railway station. From the town side, you enter and cut across the station and come out on the other side. The bus stops are on your right. The bus routes are no. 168 and 169, although on the indicator the route numbers are not mentioned, only the destinations. So you have look for destinations such as Collias or Vers or Uzes via Remoulins. You get off at the stop of the Pont du Gard and from there, it is a 10 min. walk to the visitor%26#39;s centre.

There is an online time-table but it is never certain that all the services will be run. On Sundays, only a couple of services are run.

All this should not deter you from taking this trip as once you do find the bus going in that direction, the drivers are very helpful and will inform you about the timings of the return trips.
