We are planning on going to Amiens in the summer, the main intention is to visit the Ulster memorial and other Somme battlefield sites. But also want a more light-hearted distraction.
Are there other activities to do in this area besides the WW1 battlefields and museums. Perhaps vineyard tours/wine tasting?

I think the nearest wine growing region to the Somme is Champagne. Base yourself in Reims and either visit the major champagne houses in the town or drive along one of the many champagne trails and sample a degustation or two or three at some of the smaller producers in the Champagne villages. These are some 3,500 to chose from, so there is plenty of choice.

Brewery tours are much more likely. Have you looked at the Picardie Tourisme website for activities and other attractions.
