Paris Museum Pass - Couple of Quick Questions

My daughter is 17 - and I think if you are under 18 there is not charge to visit Basilique St. Denis and even Versailles. If that is true, is there any advantage to buying a Paris Museum Pass for her?

Second question - I think the Paris Museum Pass covers the entrance fee at Versailles only. Then you still have to pay to tour the State Aparments, Petite Triannon and so on - is that right?

Thanks for help with this. I am thinking of buying the passes at CDG airport.

All comments and recommendations are appreciated.

We%26#39;re doing the main areas, Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle, Concierege, Cluny Museum, Miltary - Napoleon Museum, Basilque St. Denis, maybe Montmartre. And, for course, full day for Vesailles.

Thanks,

Ellen

I cannot answer the question about tour 17 year old, but we did go to Versailles in March using the Museum Pass.

The Museum Pass includes all the buildings - state apartments, Grand and Petit Trianon, etc. It also includes the gardens unless there is a fountain show, in which case that costs extra.

It does not include the audio guide (we used Rick Steves book) or a private tour of other apartments.

We bought our 6 day Museum Pass (for our 8 day trip) at the Tourist counter at CDG - took about 3 minutes.

Your trip sounds great - be sure to see the Eiffel Tower after dark when it twinkles on the hour. Best from one or two blocks away.

Your daughter need not buy the card. If you buy it , she%26#39;ll be able to skip the lines along with you.

The museum pass covers you for a visit to Versailles. However, if you want to do the gardens and the trianons you%26#39;ll have to pay a discounted ticket, since you are holder of the pass. I%26#39;ve been there 2 years ago and I can;t remeber the exact amount of money. I think that the discount is 20% approximately to the regular ticket price.

Have fun!!!

Museum pass covers all buildings and the gardens. Extra would be audio guide, tram, bike or cart rental, and Fountain show if happening and food.

We just returned. Your 17 year old will not need a museum pass , she will get in free- however - she will need to be with you to get in free. This keeps groups of kids from %26quot;taking over%26quot; popular sites. Some places Arc D Triomphe for one require you to get a free ticket at the ticket window - a little sticker but no charge. If she looks older than 17 you might keep a copy of her passport with you or learn to say elle est dixsept ans or my fille est dixsept ans. The website for the pass lists all the places it is accepted and the restrictions. Have fun.

Thank you everyone!! Exactly what I needed to know. I really appreciate your help.

Best regards to all,

Is it possible to find out in advance which sites require a student to obtain a free ticket, I know the D%26#39;Orsay does.

Was hoping my museum pass would allow us to avoid the queues.

Thanks
