Mercure NicePpromenade des Anglais

We%26#39;re thinking of staying at the Mercure Nice in October. Any recent reviews please?

I phoned and spoke to the hotel and they%26#39;ve told me there are no showers, only tubs. Does anyone know whether they have the handheld shower roses? I%26#39;m not sure whether the gentleman at the hotel understood what I was asking.

Any general comments about the hotel please, or is there a better one nearby?

Yes: the bathtubs are equipped with hand-held showers that you can ut into a holder and use as a regular shower.

We like this hotel very much. The location is great (a few short blocks to Vieux Nice and the Place Masséna, right across the Promenade des Anglais from the Mediterranean. One floor of the hotel was being renovated when we were there last December, with a completely new color scheme from the rooms on the other 2 floors.

Skip the (good but expensive) buffet breakfast in the hotel and just walk down the rue Halévy (entrance side) to find any number of cafés.

The hotel%26#39;s mattresses are exceptionally good, as are the pillows.

%26quot;ut%26quot; = fit; no idea what happened there.

Thanks so much. That%26#39;s perfect. My daughter has waist length hair and we couldn%26#39;t imagine how she%26#39;d go washing it in the bath. And yes, I know people managed for centuaries (they also didn%26#39;t wash much) but it would have been difficult.

Thanks for the tip for breakfast too. We%26#39;ll look around as there are 6 of us and breakfast at the Mercure would cost us E100 a day.

Do you think it is worth the money to get one of our rooms with sea views?

We%26#39;ve stayed a number of times in Mercure Prom, their garden view rooms are worth the little extra, they each have a small balcony (standing room only)overlooking street and public garden area but cannot see the med.

Thanks so much. We%26#39;ve booked 1 luxury room with sea views and 2 superior rooms with garden views.

Can%26#39;t wait!

Two good restaurants on the rue Masséna: La Pizza (with the world%26#39;s best and lots of other choices on the menu) and O%26#39;Palermo (excellent Italian food at good prices).

Just next to the hotel on the rue Masséna side is Le Yummie, a good place for cold and hot drinks, along with cool jazz.

This is great! Thanks so much. Two of my kids are music students, well they have graduated so are now musicians I guess, and will love the jazz. It%26#39;s a perfect suggestion.
