Boat preferences on the Midi

We have just reserved a boat for Canal du Midi in mid September. It is the Salsa and I see it does not have air-conditioning. Should this be a big concern? It appears to have a large upper deck so that should help. Has anyone cruised on this boat? It is the only big enough for our group...3 couples / 1 single and it only has two bathrooms, but it was all that was left with this company. If the boat is modern and clean we will book, but if anyone has other suggestions, we will keep looking.

Thank you for any input!

I have rented the Crusader which is basically the same boat as the Salsa only a bit smaller. With any rental boat (any boat actually), the most compelling factor in comfort is overall boat condition; do the toilets flush, do the water pumps operate, what is the size of the refrigerator and does it keep its contents cold? A problem in any one of these areas and you will most likely not become a strong referral reference for the the rental company.

I assume you have talked with the people at LeBoat. There are several other companies but first and foremost deal with a reputable company which gives you the option of a one way rental. The return leg of an out and back voyage is best described as %26quot;anticlimactic%26quot;.

Locaboat has a route between Négre and Argens-Minervois which is basically the same as the Leboat route Castelnaudary to Béziers:

Another company, France Afloat, has routes along the Canal du Midi and you may wnat to ask about availability:

This area cools nicely after August and a lack of air-conditioning should not be a deal breaker for travel in mid-September.
