Take a look at www.keycamp.ie They operate out of Cork and are very easy to deal with.

They have mobile homes on excellent camp sites.

Brittany Ferries currently have offers but Irish Ferries also have offers at the moment as well.

Pretty much all of Brittany is within 3 hours of Roscoff. Take a look at www.theaa.co.uk - go to the routefinder and click on the Europe option. You will get an idea of distances etc.

We%26#39;ve stayed in Le Mane Guernehue and will stay there again this year. Its a nice camp site with an indoor pool. And there are play grounds. There is a lovely creperie in the nearby village of Baden (about half a mile away).

The only negative about the site is that it is on a steep slope.

%26#39;Chalet holiday%26#39; - In general you will get more space and at least as good facilities in a plain old %26#39;mobile home%26#39; (caravan to us parochials) for your money.

3 hrs driving - You can choose anywhere in Brittany as the border is around 3 hrs. Most sites are a short drive to the beaches.

The area, although dependent on tourists, relies mainly on its rural backwater immmage with interesting natural features and towns.

To occupy the kids choose a site with pool / activity / club facilities.

%26#39;End of summertime%26#39; is not very specific. French sites start to run down and close from the last full week of August. Many will be on run down to close at the end of the first full Sept week.

Where to stay - A number of companies hire pitches on french sites , but they do not control which facilities are open in late season. You are also %26#39;a bit scared%26#39;. So for your first trip a safe home base with facilities open seems a basic requirement. Check out Siblu, who own their own sites, can guarantee the facilities, and have english as their firsf lnguage. siblu.com/france/brittany/domaine_de_kerlann

Hi, I work for Keycamp over in the UK but have visited Brittany many times as part of my job, and on the occasional holiday and my review is based on that.

Brittany is a good choice for a first time holiday, easy roads, nice weather in the summer and the Breton people are lovely. The following resorts are great for families and have an abundance of campsites close by:

Benodet - small seaside resort with some nice restaurants on the seafront. Camping Pointe St.Gilles is about a 15 minute walk into town and directly opposite a beach.

Carnac - larger and more livlier town with the famous Carnac Stones nearby. Gorgeous beaches and plenty to do. There are a few campsites around here of which La Grande Metarie gets my vote.

To be honest, you won%26#39;t go too wrong wherever you go in Brittany. Just make sure you try the seafood, visit Auray, Vannes and Concarneau and some of the local cider. It almost knocked my head off!!

I know the region pretty well, so I%26#39;ll gladly impart any other advice if you want.

Have a great time whoever you book with..

You can%26#39;t go wrong at a 4-star holiday parc - most will have free kids clubs, big swimming pool complexes, lots of sports - and load of other families with young children, so you (and especially the kids) will make lots of friends.

I will give another shout for siblu%26#39;s Domaine de Kerlann holiday parc - it has all of the above, indoor and outdoor pools, a splashzone and the beaches and best sites are all short drives away.

There will also be a 65 metre dry ski slope and two toboggan runs open on the parc from 8 July for a month.

If you want to find out more about the region, I%26#39;ve pulled together this guide: http://tinyurl.com/q6gu8q
